What is your Dress Style?

Posted on

So it's time to start looking for the dress!  But where to begin?!  So many styles, so many shapes!  It definitely can be overwhelming if you do not know what you like or what you want.  First, do some research!  It is okay to look up terms and know what they mean!  When you walk in a dress shop, you are going to asked questions in regard to styles of dresses with terminology.  In order for the sales person to help, you need to be on the same page.  If you are not sure what something is, don't be afraid to speak up and ask!  Second, know your body shape.  If you know what type of clothing looks good on you and what you feel comfortable in, the salesperson needs to know this.  If you are not comfortable in tight clothing, a fishtail or trumpet style dress is not going to be your best option.  Finally, you just have to start trying on dresses!!  This is so important!  Even if it is to find the shape that you like, you need to start.  You don't have to love the gown, but you might like something about it.  And don't be afraid to walk out of the store without buying anything.  When you find the dress, you will know!  Below are some basic shapes of dresses.  Empire and ballgown dresses look great on everyone!  The tighter the fit of a dress, the more comfortable you need to feel about your body and about a dress being tighter to your body.  It is your dress.  You need to feel comfortable and you must decide if you look beautiful in it.  We at Anna Grace Formals hopes that every one finds their perfect dress for their perfect day!
